ALIZA SHANE, Founding Artist/Co-Artistic Director

AlizaShaneAliza Shane is a director, playwright and producer. She works with her actors in a collaborative process, creating organic characters borne out of movement and improvisation in addition to the written word. Born and raised in NY, Aliza has a BA in Theatre from Queens College.

Aliza is the co-founder and Co-Artistic Director of 3 Voices Theatre, alongside longtime collaborator and friend Jenn Tufaro. Most recently, she wrote and directed the original play, Mein Uncle, an absurdist fairytale about the seeds of inhumanity, produced by 3V Theatre. In addition, 3V has produced numerous staged reading events, including Threesomes, Say Uncle!, CagedShocktober and Soaked, for which Aliza both wrote and directed.

Aliza is the former Assistant Managing Director at Looking Glass Theatre where she was producer of the Writer/Director Forum. She directed four new works as part of the Forum, garnering multiple awards. Also with Looking Glass, Aliza wrote and directed Are You There Zeus? It’s Me, Electra; The Spanish Wives: A Groovy Tale of Peace, Love and Restoration; and The Three Sillies, which earned an NYIT Award for Outstanding Short Script.

Aliza wrote and directed The Imaginary Invalid: By Prescription Only, and Are You There Zeus? It’s Me, Electra as part of Planet Connections Festivity, which earned awards for Outstanding Overall Production and Outstanding Direction respectively.

JENN TUFARO, Founding Artist/Co-Artistic Director

JennTufaroOriginally from North Dakota, Jenn has worked as an actor, director, playwright, stage manager, production manager, board op, designer and producer. Whew. Alongside Aliza and Chanda, she is thrilled to provide a creative environment for all artists at 3V.

For 3V, Jenn most recently wrote Starf*ckers, a collection of short plays exploring society’s fascination and obsession with celebrity. Jenn has also written, directed or acted in all of 3V’s staged reading events – Threesomes (playwright)Say Uncle! (playwright, director)Caged (playwright, director), Shocktober (playwright, actor), Soaked (playwright, director, actor) and Great Scott! (director, actor).

Acting credits include: Just A Reading, Baal, Helix 999 (Looking Glass Theatre), What Happens to Women Here (Stone Soup/Richmond Shepard Theatre), The Maguffin (Stone Soup/Philadelphia Fringe Festival), The Ghost Dancers (Stone Soup/June Havoc Theatre, Midtown International Theatre Festival Award, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Play), A Chicken Goes to Broadway (Samuel French Short Play Festival, Peter Jay Sharp Theatre), Young Jean Lee’s Church (The Public Theater) and Always Family (The Kirk Theater on Theatre Row). She has also produced/participated in five V-Day events in NYC/NJ.

Jenn is the former Co-Artistic Director / Managing Director of Looking Glass Theatre and the former Managing Director of Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. She’s wife to the amazing Greg and a mommy to her sweet boys Jake (3) and new baby John.


CHANDA CALENTINE, Founding Artist/Creative Consultant

ChandaCalentineChanda currently resides in Asheville, NC, where she is the Program Director at Asheville Community Theatre. Since moving to Asheville in 2011, she has taught Dance at Artspace Charter School, directed Kiss Me, Kate (Asheville Community Theatre), stage managed Hairspray and Santaland Diaries, choreographed The Putnam County Spelling Bee and sat on the Board for North Carolina Dance Alliance.

After graduating from Ohio University, Chanda moved to NYC in 2001 and was active in the theater community as a performer, director, choreographer, teacher and arts administrator. Some of her directing credits includes Just A Reading (Looking Glass Theatre), Shards, Volume I (St. Mark’s Theatre), All In My Head (Looking Glass Forum) and choreography credits includes Are You There, Zeus? It’s Me, Electra! (Bleecker Street Theater), Live/Feed (Brooklyn Lyceum), The Imaginary Invalid: By Prescription Only (The Robert Moss Theater), Grease (OVST), The Wizard of Oz (OVST), Two Rooms (The Workshop Theatre Company) and Fate, Fury and Musical Theatre: A Kind of Cabaret…THE REVENGE (Red Room).
